NXP Reveals Android Things Certification For i.MX 8M By June

7 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

Following Google's announcement of Android Things 1.0 at Google I/O 2018 , NXP Semiconductors has revealed its newly released i.MX 8M applications processor will be ready for the platform in just a couple of months. That's moderately surprising, given concerns that have been expressed as to whether or not manufacturers would be able to take advantage of the new embedded operating system platform quickly. After all, it has only just been a few weeks since the release of the final developer preview version of Android Things. For those who may not already know, Android Things is predominantly...

Google Tweaks Heads-Up Notifications In Android P DP2 - I/O 2018

Google Tweaks Heads-Up Notifications In Android P DP2 - I/O 2018

7 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

Google has tweaked heads-up notifications in Android P developer preview 2, though not by a huge margin, rather just slightly by adjusting the animations and making them a little bit more lively and visually noticeable. If you've already flashed the second developer preview for Google's upcoming version of Android and you've already gotten an incoming notification while the display was on and you were using the device, then you'd have likely noticed how the animation has changed, coming with more of a bounce than then it currently does in Oreo and prior.
Not only does the animation have...

In case there are some of you guys out there feel that Google Assistant is lacking in terms of voice options, you might have heard that at Google I/O 2018, the company announced that their digital assistant will be getting six new voices. For those who are excited for it, then you'll be pleased to learn that the new voices are live. These new voice options should be available for users to access via the Google Assistant settings menu, but if you don't see it yet, it's probably because it hasn't rolled out to you, but we expect that it shouldn't be too long until it does. Android P Basically Includes Circle With Disney For Adults

7 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

Mixed in with the wealth of new features Google has announced at its I/O 2018 event have been some that should seem very familiar to parents. More directly, they're probably most akin to Disney's parental control features encompassed in its Circle with Disney subscription service. That recognition shouldn't be too surprising since Disney has been offering its service for several years. Its service allows parents to keep an eye on their children's' screen time, manage the content they consume, set pauses in connectivity, and turn off access at bedtime. Of course, one major difference is...

Do Not Disturb Hides Notifications In Android P DP2 - I/O 2018

7 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

Do Not Disturb mode hides notifications in Android P DP2 (which Google unveiled and released at I/O 2018 on May 8) from the notification tray completely, so not only will you end up with no sound from the incoming messages, emails, and any other notifications, but you will end up with no visual representation of those notifications either. For anyone who wants to be able to completely disconnect from the world that keeps most people so connected without having to physically power their device down, Google's new implementation of Do Not Disturb looks to be the answer.
Worth noting is that...

Google Explains Why Its Design Changes Weren't Dubbed “Material Design 2” - I/O 2018

7 monthes ago   |   By Android Headlines

Google made a ton of announcements at Google I/O this week, including some that were part of the developer keynote yesterday afternoon. A smaller part of that keynote was indeed its changes to Material Design. Leading to the developer conference, a good number of the leaks indicated that it might be called “Material Design 2” but that's not the case. When asked about it, Google's VP of Design, Matias Duarte, informed us that the team did not want to invalidate the original Material Design guidelines. As those are still part of the system, but instead wanted to show that it is evolving...

Google has an immersive Google Home Max experience at I/O 2018

7 monthes ago   |   By Phandroid

New to Google I/O this year is an immersive Google Home Max experience, which is an absolutely massive Google Home Max replica that you can go inside. Once inside, you'll find a Google Home Max mounted upon the wall of a room filled with LEDs that osculate, change, and dance while adapting to the music being played from the wall mounted smart speaker. While the crazy light show is definitely impressive and a cool party trick for I/O attendees, the entire purpose of this room is to show just how loud and clear the sound is coming from Google's premium audio device.
Google wants to remind...
