The MacBook Air 2018 is an interesting device in that it sticks to relatively the same design while completely overhauling the display, processor and inputs. Apple today announced a new MacBook Air with 8th-generation Intel chips, a Retina display, USB-C ports, and up to 16GB of RAM, a machine that, all in all, sounds a lot like the 12-inch MacBook .
Apple did not announce updates to its smaller notebook machine, but it did quietly remove the Rose Gold color as a purchase option. The 12-inch MacBook can now be purchased in Silver, Space Gray, and Gold, but not Rose Gold.

Our Long national nightmare is over. Tim Cook just announced a new MacBook Air with a Retina display. Closed, it has the same wedge design as the old one. Open, it looks a lot like the 12″ MacBook.

Apple Announces New MacBook Air With 13-Inch Retina Display and Touch ID

Apple in New York today announced an update to the MacBook Air , which includes a Retina Display, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and one headphone jack. Apple says every part of MacBook Air has been redesigned and reengineered for the new generation, centering around the new Retina Display.
The new MacBook Air has 50 percent smaller bezels, a 13-inch display, 4x the resolution with over four million pixels, and 48 percent more color. This version of the MacBook Air also includes a Touch ID sensor embedded in the keyboard.
