YouTube Apps Will Now Autoplay Videos Silently

You'll soon find that browsing YouTube through mobile apps is going to be a significantly changed experience. The world's largest video sharing website has announced that it will now begin autoplaying videos by default when users are browsing the app's Home tab. However, the videos will autoplay with the sound disabled.
YouTube says that this feature is basically meant to provide users with a preview of the videos that they scroll by. It should be enough to let them know whether that's a video that they want to watch. It's calling this feature Autoplay on Home. This feature will be enabled...

Over the next few weeks, YouTube is rolling out a new feature for its mobile app called "Autoplay on Home," which automatically plays videos that appear on your Home tab. As you scroll through your Home feed, videos will begin to play on mute with captions auto-enabled.
Google claims the previously Premium-only feature is a better way to experience new content on the go, and will help you "make more informed decisions about whether you want to watch a video," but not everyone is likely to agree, especially users who have a cellular data cap.
