Net neutrality to die on June 11, as Ajit Pai blasts “special interests”

The repeal of net neutrality rules will finally take effect on June 11, six months after the Federal Communications Commission voted to eliminate the rules that prohibit Internet service providers from blocking and throttling lawful Internet traffic.
The repeal will get rid of "unnecessary and harmful Internet regulations," and help spur investment in 5G and other broadband networks, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said in a statement announcing the effective date.

The controversial Restoring Internet Freedom act that the Federal Communications Commission voted for in December and published in the Federal Register this February will be entering into force on June 11, according to a Thursday public notice from the agency. The final version of the act will be published in the Federal Register tomorrow, marking the start of a 30-day countdown until the measure is implemented and the 2015 net neutrality rules are repealed in practice.

The Federal Communications Commission gave a notice today that states Net Neutrality rules will officially end in the United States on June 11, 2018. The FCC voted 3-2 in favor of repealing the rules last December, a repeal that was then made official with an entry into the Federal Register in February.
