Google announced a slew of major new features for Android P at yesterday's I/O 2018 keynote. Developer Preview 2 equally included a number of design changes as led by the new gesture navigation and new Recents view. However, there was also a number of smaller tweaks, with one of them being weather on the lockscreen.

Google has just introduced its new Android platform for smartphones, but the new OS won't be released until later this year. Even so, the previous version, Android Oreo isn't used by a large audience, which was to be expected if you look back at how things evolved in the last couple of years.
Last month Google confirmed Oreo is on 4.15% of the Android devices, and this month, for the first time since its market release, Android O's market share is above 5%, although not by much.

This is something that many Chrome OS users are going to like. Google has confirmed that Chrome OS is getting full support for Linux apps. This means that devices such as Chromebooks will soon be able to run Linux apps and execute Linux commands without breaking a sweat. The company will release a preview of this for the Pixelbook first before rolling out the full Linux support to all compatible models.

OK, Google just announced the new features to come in Android P and there's quite a bit to be excited about! While select smartphone users are now able to install the beta and enjoy some of the new features, the rest will have to wait until whenever the full version hits their handset in the latter half of 2018 or later.
So, what's there to be excited about? The major new additions are:
Gesture-based interface - the home button turns into a mini-scrollbar, which lets you swap between apps or open the app drawer via simple swipes.
