Google Shipped 3.9 Million Pixel Units Last Year

Google still has a long way to go before its Pixel smartphones can hit figures that high-end smartphones from the likes of Samsung always do but it's seeing good progress. Latest data from market tracker IDC reveals that the company shipped 3.9 million units of Pixel smartphones in 2017. It registered a nice surge in sales over the previous year even though the total number of shipments is far below what some of Xiaomi's mid-range handsets can even bring in.
While he didn't provide any concrete figures, Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently confirmed during the company's quarterly earnings...

Google Hires Samsung's Former Head Of Bixby

Former Samsung Chief Technical Officer Injong Rhee joined the Korean conglomerate back in 2011 and played a key role in the development of Samsung's Knox enterprise security platform and its Samsung Pay mobile payments solution. He also played a crucial role on the team that oversaw the development and release of Samsung's Bixby virtual assistant. It was reported two weeks ago that he had left Samsung due to personal reasons. He has now been hired by Google.

Ex-Samsung CTO Behind Bixby Joins Google Cloud's IoT Unit

Former Samsung Chief Technology Officer Injong Rhee joined Google to head the company's Internet of Things unit, the industry veteran revealed in a LinkedIn post published Monday. Mr. Rhee resigned his position at Samsung in December and has now taken the role of an “Entrepreneur In Residence” under Google's cloud computing division. As such, he will be reporting directly to Google Cloud Chief Executive Officer Diane Greene.
