T-Mobile Flips On 5G FWA Pending Sprint Merger Approval

In short: T-Mobile executives have now claimed that the company's ability to provide 5G fixed wireless access is going to be almost completely dependant on whether or not its proposed merger with Sprint goes forward. That's based on a 341-page redacted document currently housed by the FCC and authored by key executives in response to questions from the commission about the merger's benefits. In short: Nearly six years after T-Mobile purchased MetroPCS, it has decided to rebrand the prepaid carrier, and it is now “Metro by T-Mobile”. It gets a brand new logo, and also some newer plans. T-Mobile has infused these new plans with Amazon Prime and Google One , adding more perks while keeping the prices the same. New MetroPCS Plans Revealed As It Gets Rebranded To Metro By T-Mobile

T-Mobile's prepaid brand, MetroPCS, is getting a makeover today almost five years after its merger with Magenta. It will henceforth be called Metro by T-Mobile. Some new plans have been announced by the carrier as well which include two options with unlimited talk, text, and LTE data in addition to Amazon and Google services.
The base plan is going to cost $30 per month and it offers 2GB of LTE data with unlimited talk and text. The $40 per month plan offers 10GB of LTE data per month. The new $50 plan offers unlimited LTE data, 5GB mobile hotspot and access to Google One. The $60 plan...

Just over five years ago, T-Mobile and MetroPCS merged together. Since then, the pre-paid carrier has more than doubled its customer base. Despite this, T-Mobile CEO John Legere still believes that the perception of consumers is that of a subpar service. Because of this, the number three carrier has announced that it will be rebranding its pre-paid business and updating its plans in the process.
