Web giant Google has created a new version of its AMP protocol that will work in email clients and on pages, and has also created a developer preview of a Gmail-compatible version of the service meant to be turned into a stable build in the near future. Google has launched a developer preview of AMP for Email, bringing its Accelerated Mobile Pages feature to Gmail. The aim is modernize email, allowing for the creation of messages with interactive, dynamic content. In practice what this means is that emails could be updated with new information if details change, and that it will be possible to fill out forms and so on without leaving your inbox. Google has been working on the open-source Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP framework for a couple of years now. The initial goal was to help publishers cut down on load times for their readers but Google has improved the framework considerably since then.
