Deezer for Android updated with new Shazam-like feature

Last year, Deezer unveiled plans to add a brand new feature to its mobile app, which would allow users to identify unknown tracks in the same vein as Shazam. The music streaming service may not be so popular in the United States where it launched only two years ago, but those who use it will be able to enjoy the new song recognition feature called SongCatcher.

The announcement was made that the free iOS and Android apps will be permanently shuttered on April 30, just under a fortnight's time. Those who are Opera Gold members (which was the commercial paid-for version of the product) will be given the option of having a free one-year subscription to SurfEasy Ultra VPN. Spotify has begun distributing invites to an event set to occur on April 24, during which the company is expected to unveil new features for its mobile app and other announcements. According to a new report by The Verge, among the top executives who are likely to make presentations include the company's head of research and development Gustav Söderström, vice president of product development Babar Zafar, and global head of creator services Troy Carter.
While the invites confirm the date of the event next week, there's no word on what to expect from the music streaming service on that day...
