11 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

Included inside the brand-new iPhone XS and XS Max is the company's latest processor, the A12 Bionic. And, just as expected, it's the smartest and most powerful processor to ever be included inside an iPhone, according to Apple. Also, it will be the first 7-nanometer chip to reach the market.
Building upon the progress Apple made with last year's A11 Bionic, the new A12 chip once again includes a six-core CPU based on its own Fusion architecture. As was the case last year, the CPU features 2 high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. In the case of the former, these are...

Apple Announces the iPhone X S and iPhone X S Max

Apple Announces the iPhone X S and iPhone X S Max

11 monthes ago   |   By Touch Arcade

As expected, Apple just announced the new iPhone X S and iPhone X S Max, and it seems the entire internet has an opinion on the naming conventions of the new devices. The interesting thing about modern iPhone releases is that iPhones are getting so good, that these announcements almost feel... not as exciting as they used to be. For instance, the X S and X S Max have the “most durable glass ever in a smartphone," but what does that really mean? It seems like they say that every year, and iPhones barely survive drop tests. But, the “S" cycle is all about taking the previous device and just...

Apple's “one more thing" at today's keynote was a budget-friendly iPhone X R which basically seems to take the iPhone X but... makes it cheaper. For example, instead of an OLED display it has an LCD, the “Liquid Retina Display," specifically. It's a 6.1" screen at 1792×828 and 326ppi, which similar to the iPhone X has a larger overall screen than the iPhone 8 Plus. Its aluminum case comes in white, black, blue, coral, yellow, and Product Red. The iPhone X R is also waterproof like the iPhone X, IP67 certified, specifically.
Curiously enough, the iPhone X R also has the A12 bionic chip, but...

Stereo sound recording arrives to Apple's iPhones, finally, and with four mics at that

11 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

Not all phones are created equal when it comes to video sound or general audio recording with them. Nokia started a very welcome trend with the Rich Recording functionality built into the first 808 PureView.
It used tailor-made mics to achieve what others can't, and a bunch of other manufacturers started paying more attention to the audio recording abilities of their handsets, and it all culminated with not the one or two, but the three directional mics on the Note 4, which recorded with a very high bitrate at that.
Well, when we said not all phones are ...
