IPhone XS camera features explained

11 days ago   |   By Tech Radar

Smartphones may now be capable of capturing magazine covers, exhibition-worthy enlargements and more, but that hasn't stopped companies like Apple from continuing to push the technology for the benefit of the everyday user. Heralding "a new era for photography", Apple's latest iPhone XS and XS Max handsets build on many photographic features we first saw in last year's iPhone X. While the separation between the two generations isn't quite as pronounced as it has been before, the changes do appear to make the newer model more adept at handling a range of situations, from backlit portraits...

Will my old iPhone X case fit the new iPhone XS?

Will my old iPhone X case fit the new iPhone XS?

11 days ago   |   By Phone Arena

The new iPhone XS comes in as slightly heavier than its obvious predecessor, the iPhone X, that is now discontinued - 6.24 ounces vs 6.14 ounces. That A12 Bionic chipset and 512GB storage options must be tipping the scales here.
The differences in size, however, are not even a fraction of an inch, unlike during the iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 move, so if you have been wondering whether your old case will fit the new phone when you put the naked X up on Craigslist, it should.
We just took a peek at the official accessory ...

11 days ago   |   By Phone Arena

The ink has barely dried on Apple's iPhone XS/XS Max and iPhone XR press releases yesterday, with certain technical details still very much up in the air, and info on essential stuff like official warranty extension prices quietly revealed on the heels of the actual product announcements.
But none of that is stopping analysts from doing what they do, analyzing recent sales patterns, looking at average selling prices in previous years, and trying to anticipate the market's response to Apple's three highly anticipated new iPhones.

Whatever you do, don't break one of Apple's new iPhones

11 days ago   |   By Beta News

Yesterday, Apple took the wraps off three new iPhones - the Xs, Xs Max, and the Xr. These are attractive, powerful smartphones, with a premium price to match. If you have the money to buy one, you'll also perhaps need to factor in the cost of AppleCare, Apple's insurance policy, which includes up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage (although you'll still need to pay an excess charge for each repair). If you decide not to go for AppleCare and you break the screen, or damage the phone in another way, then the cost of an official repair will...

The price is spread over 24 monthly payments and after you've made 12, you're eligible to get one of the newest models by returning your current one and switching to another monthly payment. However, since you're basically getting a loan for your iPhone, you need to be approved for it.

Apple's iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR come with theft and loss protection. at a huge cost

11 days ago   |   By Phone Arena

If you're thinking about purchasing a hot new iPhone XS, XS Max, or a slightly lower-cost iPhone XR, you may want to set aside a little more than the handset's base price. Buying a protective case is always a must when dealing with a device made from easily breakable glass, actually enabling the three's fast-charging capabilities will also cost you extra, and then there's AppleCare+.
As usual, you're offered one year of hardware repair coverage through the company's limited warranty program, with AppleCare+ extending that service for an additional 12 months while also providing 24/7 tech ...

IPhone XR vs iPhone 8: an entry-level iPhone showdown

11 days ago   |   By Tech Radar

The iPhone XR is in a way the start of a new range from Apple, falling somewhere between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone XS , but it's the iPhone 8 that it's the clear successor to. Their designs differ, as do many of their specs and features, but the iPhone XR is the cheapest of Apple's new handsets, just like the iPhone 8 was last year. They also have some other similarities, so to help you see how these two phones compare we've put them head-to-head across a range of categories.
Hands on with the new iPhones: iPhone XS | iPhone XS Max | iPhone XR iPhone XR vs iPhone 8 design

The wait is over: today, Apple unveiled its newest iPhones and there are three of them, and all look just like the iPhone ten with edge-to-edge screens and a notch, Face ID and a gesture navigation.
You have two premium models: the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max, both with vivid OLED screens, a stainless steel body, and dual camera systems, and a third, more affordable model, the iPhone XR that has an LCD screen and one camera, but keeps the same new Apple A12 chip inside.

The price you pay Apple for iPhone innovation

11 days ago   |   By Beta News

Trendsetter Apple has done it again! Just when you thought there was no innovation left in the smartphone market, CEO Tim Cook delivers the wildly price-disruptive iPhone Xs Max 512GB for heart-stopping $1,449. Smartphones simply don't cost this much. What other company would stoop so low by reaching so high? This thing is a monster with its 6.5-inch edge-to-edge display; 2688 x 1242 resolution at 458 pixels per inch (less than Google Pixel 2 XL at 2880 x 1440 and 538 ppi); and dual-SIM support (so telemarketers can ring more often on two numbers). For anyone whose hands aren't...

Apple iPhone Xs versus the Android competition

11 days ago   |   By Phandroid

Ladies and gentlemen, the new iPhones have landed! If you're just now learning about the new iPhone Xs on Phandroid, there's a good chance that you're probably not interested in the new flagship smartphone from Apple. That being said, you might be a little curious as to how your recent Android smartphone purchase stacks up against the iPhone Xs.
To put things simply, if you've seen last year's iPhone X, you'll probably have a hard time telling it apart from the iPhone Xs. Like all of Apple's “s” models, this new device has the same body as last year's phone. The only real thing to set it...
