Apple does a fantastic job of supporting its older devices with software, but it doesn't have a perfect track record when it comes to repairing them. Good news, it seems the Cupertino-based company is looking into launching a “Repair Vintage Apple Products” pilot program according to a 9to5Mac report. This new program will apparently support a small selection of older Apple devices about to fall into obsolescence including the iPhone 5. Your six-year-old MacBook Air or iPhone 4s is about to be added to Apple's new vintage repair program, according to 9to5Mac. The new program promises to extend the period of time customers can receive repairs for older devices.

Normally, an Apple product becomes vintage once five years have passed since it was last manufactured, meaning that Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will no longer repair or service the product.
In late January, however, Apple launched a pilot program that permits Apple Stores and AASPs to continue servicing select vintage products, subject to parts availability. The program started in the United States and Turkey with the Mid 2011 iMac and expanded worldwide with the 2012 MacBook Air in August.

Apple is more than happy to repair your recent products but what about the devices that are vintage or obsolete? It appears that the company is launching a new “Repair Vintage Apple Products Pilot” program through which it will conduct repairs on old devices. The program will cover mobile devices and Macs both.
