Apple might be kickstarting trial production of its 2018 iPhone lineup soon to avoid bottlenecks

3 monthes ago   |   By Phone Arena

Apple is rumored to be kicking off trial production of its three anticipated 2018 iPhone models in late Q2 2018, a bit earlier than last year. This heavily hints that all three devices that are expected to debut in early September will launch together.
The reason for this "rush" is most certainly Apple's desire to avoid last year's supply mishaps that caused the iPhone X to hit the shelves at a later date than the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which hurt the overall sales of the device. In particular, the low yield of infrared 3D sensors for the iPhone X's FaceID functionality ...

It's flagship smartphone camera comparison time at TechRadar. Our test subjects are the Google Pixel 2 XL , Apple's iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus , and we're focusing on the portrait modes across all three phones.
What's portrait mode?
Blurring the background of a photo while keeping the foreground tack-sharp used to be a mark of quality reserved for DSLRs and high-end bridge cameras. Thanks to today's smart camera phone software, however, shooting in portrait mode means it's easy to achieve relatively convincing background blur, or bokeh, on flagships like the Google Pixel 2 XL...

Apple is expected to begin trial production of a trio of new iPhone models in the second quarter of 2018 at the earliest, as it looks to avoid a repeat of the issues caused by the initial low yield rates on production of 3D sensor modules for the iPhone X last year, according to Taiwanese website DigiTimes .

IPhone XI trial production could kick off soon to help avoid launch delays

3 monthes ago   |   By Tech Radar

Although the iPhone XI probably won't be announced until September, Apple could begin trial production of it soon, in order to prevent delays. DigiTimes reports that trial production could begin in the second quarter of 2018 , citing 'sources from Taiwan-based IC design houses'. That's apparently in order to push ahead delivery schedules and ensure there's a high enough yield rate of 3D sensor modules.

Apple is apparently starting trial production of the 2018 iPhone lineup in the second quarter, according to a report published this morning by Digitimes. Apple is set to debut three new iPhones later this year, an update to the 5.8-inch iPhone X, a larger 6.5-inch device dubbed ‘iPhone X Plus' and a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD iPhone.
All three models are designed to feature Face ID, eschewing a home button. Apple faced production bottlenecks last year with iPhone X from the 3D face sensing components, something the company is hoping to avoid second time around.
