Most mid-range smartphones from Samsung won't receive Android Oreo prior to 2019, according to the company's official update roadmap published via the Samsung Members mobile app earlier this week. The release schedule seen in the screenshots below reveals that the Galaxy J7 Neo is the only Samsung-made mid-ranger that's yet to receive Oreo and is planned to be updated to a new version of the operating system before the end of the year. Samsung continues to roll out Android Oreo updates for its mid-range smartphones, but many won't get it until next year. Luckily, that might not be the case when it comes to the Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4.
Both phones have been recently spotted at Wi-Fi Alliance, but the most intriguing thing is that both are running Android 8.0 Oreo. It's not the first time that we've seen an old smartphone being certified at Wi-Fi Alliance because they are likely to receive a new major software update.

Those running the Android Oreo beta on their BlackBerry KEYone should soon receive a notification that their device has received a software update to build ABD796. Don't expect a changelist full of fabulous new capabilities. In fact, the update makes small adjustments to voice over Wi-Fi, carrier support and the fingerprint scanner. If you're still rockin' Android Nougat on your KEYone, you will first need to install build ABD301 on the handset before you add the new update.
