Verizon LG V30 owners receive update giving their phone AI CAM and ThinQ name

Verizon is performing a little magic on its variant of the LG V30. They are waving a magic wand and turning the LG V30 into the LG V30 ThinQ. The update, which carries software version VS99620b, adds AI CAM to the handset's camera. This allows the camera to analyze the subject and recommend one of four filters available. Each filter optimizes certain settings like contrast, saturation and color. these recommendations are made after the AI CAM places the subject of a photograph into one of eight different categories such as "people, pets, food, flowers, city, ...

Verizon recently started pushing out an update to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge units on its network, with its official changelog claiming the software package brings Android 8.0 Oreo to Samsung's 2016 flagships, yet numerous owners of the two devices soon started reporting that the firmware ships with nothing but the new April security patch. The largest wireless carrier in the United States apparently attached the wrong changelog to the update and has rectified the mistake in the last 24 hours, with all references to Android 8.0 Oreo now being removed from its patch notes.

LG V30 Receives AI-Focused ThinQ Android Update On Verizon

Verizon started distributing a new software update to all variants of the LG V30 on its network, the wireless carrier disclosed earlier this week, with the firmware package in question being largely focused on artificial intelligence features which already launched with the V30S ThinQ. The South Korean original equipment manufacturer is now also referring to its 2017 Android flagship as the V30 ThinQ, with the name being meant to be indicative of the fact that the updated device now boasts a wide variety of new AI functionalities, including automated camera improvements.
