Apple's AirPort routers have been kicked to the curb

Apple has announced that it's getting out of the router business. The Cupertino firm will be selling off its remaining AirPort router inventory via Apple Stores and authorized retailers, but will not restock. That said, no price drop has been announced. The company will, however, continue to support the existing routers - including AirPort Express , AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule - for the next five years, providing software and firmware updates. Apple Officially Discontinues AirPort Wireless Router Lineup

Apple has officially ended development on its AirPort line of products, which includes the AirPort Express , the AirPort Extreme , and the AirPort Time Capsule .
"We're discontinuing the Apple AirPort base station products. They will be available through Apple.com, Apple's retail stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers while supplies last," an Apple spokesperson told 9to5Mac .
Apple has not updated its AirPort products since 2012 and 2013 , and in late 2016, Bloomberg said that Apple had stopped development on the AirPort lineup with the AirPort engineers reassigned to other products.

Apple is ceasing production of its AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule Wi-Fi routers. I had a chance to speak to Apple briefly about the decision, and here's the statement I was given:
